Bijan Robinson RB Texas: Scouting Report

Height: 6’0

Weight: 222

Overall

Bijan Robinson is a dynamic playmaker in Texas’ Zone-Heavy offense. In his 3 seasons with the Longhorns he played in 31 games, starting 28 of them. He makes plays in both the run and pass game and can be a dominant back at the next level.

Run Game

Once the ball is in his hands, he has excellent vision and awareness to follow his blocks and exploit any opening in the defense. At the line of scrimmage he has very quick feet and has the lateral movement skills to cut back into any running lane available and he has the speed to get to the edge of the defense. While he primarily uses his elusiveness to get around defenders, he has the size and toughness to break tackles and he is not afraid to lower his shoulder at the end of plays to gain extra yardage. Once he reaches the second level he has home run hitting speed and can outrun any defender. His low center of gravity helps him quickly change his direction but he needs to get better at keeping his feet under him in space to avoid stumbling down and limiting plays.

Pass Game

In the pass game, Robinson is a very good receiver and can be a dangerous weapon in the NFL. His speed and elusiveness allows him to run an advanced route tree and create separation from his man. On film he shows the ability to make difficult catches down the field. After the catch he continues to be an excellent playmaker by making defenders miss and using his speed to quickly get up field. He was also used occasionally as a pass blocker where he was sufficient, allowing him to be a true every down running back.

Last Word

Bijan Robinson projects best in a zone running scheme where he can use his speed and vision to find the open running lanes and create big plays. His ability as a pass catcher and even pass blocker allows him to be used on every down. Given the right scheme and an offense that will give him opportunities, he has the potential to be a top back in the league.

One-Liner: Bijan Robinson is a dynamic playmaker in both the run and pass game and will be a dominant 3-down back in the NFL.
