Logan Hall is the powerful defensive lineman in Houston’s hybrid 3-4 defense. In his 4 college seasons, he played in 47 games, starting 25 of them. He has a relentless motor as a pass rusher and his ability to line up all over the defensive line made him a versatile defender on Houston’s defense.

Run Game

While Hall has the size and power to defend the run, he lacks the athleticism and balance to be an effective run defender. He has the strength to get great vertical push, but he lacks the movement skills to move laterally when engaged with a block which makes it difficult for him to fill gaps in the run game. He needs to improve his ability to read the play and move laterally before he can be trusted on the interior, as a run defender, in the pros.

Pass Game

As a pass rusher, Hall shows flashes of excellent bull rushing ability and the hand technique to swipe away linemen. At times, he gets a quick first step off the line, has an excellent initial punch, and gets to the quarterback with ease. He shows an excellent motor as well. When he is engaged in a block, he never stops fighting to get around his man and collapse the pocket. If he can continue to improve his pass rushing technique and learn to use his power more, he can be a strong pass rushing threat in the NFL.

Last Word

Hall lined up primarily on the inside and as a 5 technique, but he projects best as a 5 tech in a 3-4 scheme. This will allow him to line up on the tackle and excel as a pass rusher and be used to set the edge in the run game. He will thrive on 3rd downs with his versatility and ability to get to the quarterback. He can be a strong special teams player as well.

One-Liner: Logan Hall can be a strong pass rusher, but his lack of run support will make him a rotational player until he can further develop his skills against the run.
