Tank Bigsby RB Auburn: Scouting Report

Height: 6’0

Weight: 213

Overall

Tank Bigsby is a one-cut running back in Auburn zone heavy run scheme. In his 3 seasons with the Tigers, he played in 35 games, starting 33 of them. He is a tremendous athlete and had a lot of production throughout his entire college career.

Run Game

Bigsby has excellent burst as soon as he touches the ball and can quickly get up the field. With him playing in a zone heavy run scheme, he was used primarily on outside runs where he could use his speed to get to the edge or he used his vision and quick feet to exploit open cut back lanes. He is very good in space and can make defenders miss with his ability to change direction without losing his momentum. He shows struggles creating plays between the tackles but on short yardage situations he does a good job of driving his feet after contact to grind out the necessary yards. His burst through the line of scrimmage and big-play speed will make him a big play threat every time he gets the ball in his hands and he has enough college experience to make an immediate impact at the next level.

Pass Game

In the pass game, Bigsby was used often as a checkdown option or on screens. He had a few drops on film and many of his catches were body catches which is concerning but when he gets the ball in his hands he continues to show his burst up the field and his open field playmaking. He was not used in pass protection on film so it may take some time for him to develop at the next level but his abilities after the catch make him an immediate receiving option.

Last Word

Tank Bigsby projects best in a zone heavy run scheme where he can use his speed and burst on outside runs as well as use his quick feet to take advantage of cutback lanes. His inexperience in pass protection is a concern but his early down rushing ability combined with his playmaking skills after the catch will allow him to grow into a 3-down back.

One-Liner: Tank Bigsby is an experienced playmaker with his speed and quickness and with further growth in the pass game, he can be a reliable 3-down back in the NFL.
