Keion White DT Georgia Tech: Scouting Report

Height: 6’5

Weight: 280

Overall

Keion White is a raw edge rusher in Georgia Tech’s hybrid defense. He began his college career at Old Dominion and was a tight end during his redshirt freshman season where he played in and started 8 games. He transitioned to Defensive End during the spring of 2019 where he went on to play in and start all 12 games with a lot of success. He then transferred to Georgia Tech with 2 years of eligibility remaining but was forced to miss the first 8 games of the 2021 season to recover from an ankle injury, just seeing time in the team’s final 4 games. This past season he was able to play in and start all 12 games to finish his college career.

Pass Game

As a pass rusher, White has very active hands and has a very high motor in getting to the quarterback. When rushing off the edge, he has an explosive first step and strong initial punch and the strength to bullrush his man into the pocket. He lacks an extensive pass rushing repertoire, but he has the athleticism to develop at the next level. He was also used as an interior rusher on film and showed the blend of size and strength to be an effective pass rusher as a 3-technique tackle. He was not used in coverage at all on film, but he has the athleticism to drop back into a short zone if needed. This was all from his film against North Carolina. In his film against Duke he had a much slower get off, struggled getting off blocks, and rarely moved his feet after initial contact. He is a very inconsistent pass rusher but his raw ability is elite and he shows flashes of being a dominant defender in the NFL.

Run Game

Against the run, White has the strength and lateral movement abilities to move down the line of scrimmage and make plays. He is a strong tackler and with his versatility he can be used to set the edge or to plug up running lanes on the interior. With further development, he can be a very strong 3 down player early in his career.

Last Word

Keion White looks like 2 completely different players in his games against North Carolina and against Duke. This inconsistency is very concerning but the flashes of ability he shows on tape makes up for it. He projects best as a 3-technique Defensive Tackle, with the versatility to play on the edge in different packages. His athleticism will allow him to be used on special teams early in his career as well.

One-Liner: Keion White is a raw player but with his size, strength, and motor, he has the potential to develop into a dominant lineman at the next level.
