Kamari Lassiter CB Georgia: Scouting Report

Height: 6’0

Weight: 180

Overall

Kamari Lassiter is a physical, boundary corner in Georgia’s hybrid defense. In his 3 seasons with the Bulldogs he has played in 44 games with 29 starts. He dealt with a foot injury during fall camp this past season but was able to battle through it to play in week 1 and on, with minimal limitations to his game. He only had 1 interception during his time in college but he made plenty of pass breakups and tackles, highlighting his production this past season.

Pass Game

Lassiter often takes small false steps to begin his backpedal in press coveage but he has the balance and foot quickness to mirror receivers off the line of scrimmage. In man coverage, he has good hand usage and is very physical at the top of routes to lock on his man. He has average size but has the length and physicality to match up with bigger receivers on the outside. He also has the speed to keep up with receivers on go routes and he does a good job of staying in their hip pocket down the field. When he is in phase he consistently gets his head around and eyes on the ball to break up the play. On in-breaking routes he is fluid and can accelerate out of his breaks to close the space between him and the receiver in a hurry. In zone coverage, he has excellent vision to read the quarterback combined with the burst to get out of his breaks to make big plays on underneath routes. He had multiple drops on film and only had 1 interception during his time at Georgia so his hands are a concern but he is physical at the catch point and broke up plenty of passes on film. He shows the technique in both man and zone coverage to be an immediate starter in the NFL.

Run Game

In the run game, Lassiter shows excellent effort and physicality. He attacks the ball-carrier on film and he has good tackling technique to wrap up his man and consistently bring them to the turf. On screens he does a good job of shedding blocks to make the play behind the line of scrimmage. He has average size at the corner position but his toughness in the run game will make him very valuable on all 3 downs at the next level.

Last Word

Lassiter played primarily on the boundary on film but has experience in the slot when following an opponent’s top receiver. He projects best on the outside in a man heavy defense where he can match-up with all types of receivers. His lack of takeaways in college is a concern but he made plenty of big plays on film proving he can be a consistent playmaker at the next level. His experience in press coverage and physicality will make him very valuable on 3rd downs and his effort in getting to the football will provide very good value to multiple special teams units.

One-Liner: Kamari Lassiter has average size and his lack of interceptions in college is concerning but he has the technique and physicality to be an immediate starter on the boundary in the NFL.
