Jordan Morgan OG Arizona: Scouting Report

Height: 6’5

Weight: 312

Overall

Jordan Morgan is an athletic left tackle in Arizona’s run and gun offense. In his 5 seasons with the Wildcats he played in 41 games with 37 starts, all at left tackle. He suffered a Torn ACL during his Junior Season in 2022 causing him to miss the final two games of the season. He returned this past season and did not have any limitations in his game and he looks to be back to full health. He played solely at left tackle during his college career but his lack of arm length and inconsistent anchor will likely result in a move to guard in the pros.

Pass Game

In the pass game, Morgan is quick out of his stance and getting into his pass set. He is very light on his feet and has the foot speed to mirror his man on the edge. When he gets his hands on his man he has the athleticism to continually shift his weight to stay square and control the rep. His lack of arm length though makes it difficult for him to keep defenders out in front of him. When defenders get into his chest, especially on bull-rushes, he lacks the anchor to stop his movement and he is often driven back deep into the pocket. Even with his quick feet, his lack of strength makes it difficult for him to recover on inside moves. At times, his hand placement will be too wide causing him to hold defenders and draw flags. He had a lot of reps on film where he held his own against some very good edge rushers but his physical limitations and lack of strength will make it very difficult for him to play tackle immediately in the NFL.

Run Game

In the run game, Morgan has good hand usage on initial contact but lacks the power to get defenders out of their stance. On zone runs, he does a good job of using his speed and fluidity to reach linemen and flip his hips to open up big running lanes. He has good hand placement in his run blocking as he often gets underneath defenders shoulder pads and turns them away from the play. He is an elite athlete and is very effective at making blocks at the second level of the defense. He was used very often as a pulling lineman on film and continued to show his athleticism as he can accelerate to his spot and take on defenders on the outside. His speed in getting to the outside is extremely impressive for a player of his size. If he can continue to get stronger while maintaining his athleticism, he can develop into a dominant run blocker in the pros.

Last Word

Although he played left tackle throughout his college career, Morgan projects best as a guard in a gap run scheme at the next level. If he can continue getting stronger he can eventually move back out to tackle, but as of right now, he will make a greater impact on the inside. His athleticism as a pulling lineman will be very valuable on gap runs but his lack of power is a concern on inside runs in short yardage situations.

One-Liner: Jordan Morgan is an elite athlete and is excellent when blocking in space, but his lack of arm length and power will likely force him to play on the interior to begin his career.
