Drake London WR USC: Scouting Report
Height: 6’5’’
Weight: 210
Overall
Drake London is an outside receiver in USC’s balanced offense. In his 3 college seasons, he played in 27 games, starting 23 of them. He missed the last 4 games of this past season with a fractured right ankle but still had remarkable production. He is a very good athlete even at 6’5’’ and consistently makes plays after the catch.
Pass Game
London has good footwork and speed off the line, and he does a good job of using his hands to create space from his man in his routes. He runs good hitches and crossing routes and has the speed to be a vertical deep threat. On film he showed inconsistent hands. He made some excellent catches and showed the ability to high point the football, but he also showed a few bad drops. On deep routes, he struggles to create separation deep down the field which could be an issue in the NFL. London thrives on his ability after the catch. He has the speed, elusiveness, and contact balance to make defenders miss and break tackles. He was even used on many screens while in college. He is a natural playmaker and has the size, speed, and athleticism to be used all over the field.
Run Game
London was rarely used on jet sweeps while on college but has the ability to be used on runs at the next level if needed. As a blocker, he shows very good effort and does a very good job using his strength to wash out corners and safeties from the play.
Last Word
London has experience playing all over the field but projects best an outside number one receiver. He has good route running for his size and shows flashes of being able to high point the ball and make tough contested catches down the field. He was USC’s go to receiver and can be a reliable number one receiver at the next level. He did not show any special teams reps on film, but he has the size and athleticism to be a good gunner on punt coverage.
One-Liner: Drake London has incredible athleticism for his size and has the potential to be a dominant number one receiver in the NFL, but I think it will take him some time for him to transition to better competition.
