Dalton Kincaid Utah TE: Scouting Report

Height: 6’4

Weight: 240

Overall

Dalton Kincaid is a dominant tight end in Utah’s balanced offense. He began his career at the University of San Diego where he had elite production before transferring to the Utes. In his 3 seasons with Utah, he played in 31 games, 23 of them. He is a tremendous athlete and will be an immediate impact player in the pass game to begin his career.

Pass Game

Kincaid lined up all over the field. He was used often in motion and lined up primarily as a wing or in the slot. He has good speed off the line and he is a very smooth route runner. He has very good footwork and can use his size and quickness to create separation at the top of his routes. He has excellent hands and a very large catch radius. He made some fantastic catches on film and shows that he can go up and high point the ball down the field as well as have the body control to get his feet in on the sideline on throws to the sideline. After the catch he has good acceleration to quickly get up field and he has the strength and balance to bounce off tackles and fight for extra yards. He was also very effective as a pass blocker when asked to do so. He is a consistent weapon and will be a very efficient receiving tight end in the NFL.

Run Game

In the run game, Kincaid shows very good effort in blocking and made some key blocks on film. He does a good job of getting his hands on his man and flipping his hips while driving his legs to create holes for the ball-carrier. With his unique blend of size, strength, and athleticism, he can block from the wing against in the box defenders as well as get to the second level to make blocks against corners and safeties.

Last Word

Kincaid can be used as a hybrid tight end but he projects best as an H tight end where he can line up all over the field and be used primarily as a receiver. He also projects best in a spread offense where he can line up in the slot and run routes at all 3 levels of the field. With his collegiate experience and dominance on film, he will make an immediate impact at the next level with the potential to develop into an elite receiving threat down the road.

One-Liner: Dalton Kincaid is a good blocking tight end but excels as a receiver with his ability to make difficult catches down the field and make big, athletic plays after the catch.
