Dameon Pierce RB Florida: Scouting Report

Height: 5’10’’

Weight: 224

Overall

Dameon Pierce as a powerful running back in Florida’s balanced offense. In his 4 college seasons, he played in 50 games, starting 11 of them. He was a rotational running back but when he touched the ball, he ran with unreal physicality and toughness. He has the athleticism and toughness to be a strong contributor in an NFL backfield.

Run Game

At the handoff, Pierce shows very good patience and vision to find the open running lane and has surprising burst to get to the 2nd level of the defense. He has excellent contact balance to bounce off tackles and he is willing to lower the shoulder to run over defenders. He has good speed to get to the edge, but he is not a home-run hitting back. He is a true between the tackles runner and he can be a strong early down rotational back. He also has the power to excel on short yardage plays and on the goal-line.

Pass Game

Pierce was rarely used as a receiver while at Florida but he has shown the hands and run after the catch ability to be an every down back if needed. As a pass blocker, he is not afraid of contact and was a reliable blocker for the Gators’ offense. He will likely be subbed out on 3rd downs at the next level, but he is capable of making a sufficient impact as a receiver in the pros.

Last Word

Pierce projects best as an early down running back in a gap run scheme. He is an excellent power back who can wear down a defense with his toughness and punishing run style. While he will not be used often as a receiver, he can be a strong pass blocker on 3rd downs and can be a dominant short yardage back. He also has plenty of special teams experience making him a stronger asset early on in his career.

One-Liner: Dameon Pierce is a powerful running back who can excel on early downs and as a rotational player in a committee style running game.
