Quay Walker WLB Georgia: Scouting Report

Height: 6’4’’

Weight: 242

Overall

Quay Walker is an athletic linebacker in Georgia’s dominant 4-3 defense. In his 4 college seasons, he played in 52 games, starting 17 of them. He was another strong playmaker in Georgia’s extensive defense and he has the physical tools to be a longtime starter at the next level.

Run Game

In the run game, Walker has good instincts and vision to diagnose the play and get to the ball-carrier. He has very good speed to chase down plays but does not have the physicality and urgency like other top linebackers. He is a very strong tackler once he gets his hands on the running back but he has some struggles getting off of blocks at the 2nd level. He has a large frame though and is capable to putting on more mass which will help his block shedding in the pros. His athleticism and sure tackling will allow him to be a day one starter with room to grow in the future.

Pass Game

In the pass game, Walker was used often in both coverage and on blitzes. As a pass rusher, he does a good job of using his speed to quickly get through open rushing lanes to get to the quarterback but he has some struggles again getting off of blocks. In coverage he shows excellent potential to be able to matchup against both tight ends and running backs. He gets grabby at times in man coverage down the field, but his athleticism will make him a very good cover linebacker in the pros.

Last Word

Quay Walker projects best as a Will Linebacker in a 4-3 defense. He has an elite blend of size and athleticism with the frame to add strength and be a more consistent run stopper in the future. His coverage skills will make him a very valuable asset on 3rd down and he has plenty of experience in special teams to make an immediate impact.

One-Liner: Quay Walker has the physical tools to be a dominant linebacker in the NFL but he needs to get stronger to better get off blocks in the NFL.
