Bernard Raimann OT Central Michigan: Scouting Report

Height: 6’6’’

Weight: 307

Overall

Bernard Raimann is a strong left tackle in Central Michigan’s balanced offense. He played tight end for his first two seasons with the Chippewas. He then transitioned to left tackle his junior year and became the immediate starter. In his final two seasons, he played in 19 games, starting all of them. While he is inexperienced, he showed the potential to be a very strong tackle in the NFL.

Pass Game

Raimann has very good balance and footwork to get into his pass set. He has a good anchor and the strength to hold his own against strong edge rushers. He occasionally will play too high making it difficult for him to block smaller, more athletic pass rushers but he rarely allowed pressure on the quarterback on film. His lack of experience at the position shows up often on film with his poor awareness in picking up late blitzers. He has some flaws in pass protection but with further development he can grow into a dominant blindside blocker at the next level.

Run Game

In the run game, Raimann has good drive off the ball and uses his strength to move his man laterally down the lane. He has the athleticism to flip his hips when in contact with his man to open up big running lanes. He also has the athleticism to get up field to make blocks in the 2nd level, but he struggles setting his feet and squaring up with his man when on the move. He has the size and power to be a strong run blocker, but he needs to be play with more intensity. He rarely finishes his blocks and at times, he will finish blocking his man before the whistle is blown.

Last Word

Raimann projects best as a left tackle in a balanced offense. He is still a very raw player and has plenty of room to grow and get stronger. That potential along with his impressive play on film will make him a very valuable lineman in the pros. His athleticism will allow him to play on the right side or even on the interior if needed. He can be an immediate impact player with a very high ceiling, and he can be a strong special teams player as well.

One-Liner: Bernard Raimann is an inexperienced left tackle but his play on film and athleticism gives him a very high ceiling and he can grow into a franchise offensive tackle.
