Overall

Stingley is an outside corner in LSU’s balanced defense. In his 3 seasons at LSU, he played in 25 games, starting all of them. He was only able to play in 3 games this past season due to foot injury that resulted in season ending surgery, but that should not affect him at the next level. He is a great athlete and showed the competitiveness to matchup against any receiver on the field.

Pass Game

Stingley shows excellent technique and footwork off the line of scrimmage. He played primarily on the outside but has experience in the slot. He also has a lot of experience playing press, but he needs to be more physical at the line. He has fluid hips and has the athleticism to mirror any receiver down the field. He showed very good ball skills, especially in his freshman season. In man coverage he is very fluid and has the confidence to matchup with anyone. He struggled against some excellent receivers in his sophomore season, but he has the abilities to be a lockdown man cover corner at the next level. In zone coverage, he does a good job when he stays in his zone but at times, he will get too aggressive on short breaking routes leading to big plays down the field in his deep zone he was responsible for. Overall, he has the athleticism and technique to be a dominant corner all over the field but he needs to continue to improve and be more consistent.

Run Game

Against the run, Stingley shows very good aggressiveness when tackling and makes great breaks on short completions. He is an excellent open field tackler and has the balance and length to make big plays against the run. His ability to help in run support will continue to help him grow into a franchise corner at the next level.

Last Word

Stingley played all over the field while at LSU but projects best as an outside corner in the pros with the flexibility of being moved around. He can be a number one corner at the next level. In his freshman year he was incredible but showed more struggles in his final two seasons. Although he did not live up to his early dominance, he still showed all the fundamentals needed to be a lockdown corner in the NFL. He also has the ability to play special teams if needed.

One-Liner: While Stingley showed some struggles his final 2 seasons at LSU, he has the size, athleticism, and excellent technique to be a lockdown boundary corner.
