Overall

Treylon Burks played on both the outside and in the slot in Arkansas’ RPO heavy offense. In his 3 college seasons, he played in 32 games, starting 30 of them. He played through a few minor injuries in college which just shows his competitiveness. He is a very good athlete and has excellent acceleration and speed for a player of his size.

Pass Game

Burks has good quickness off the line and does a good job using his speed to beat his man, but he is not a polished route runner. He runs very rounded routes and uses his speed and physicality to create separation rather than complex routes. Even without separation though he is still always open. He has excellent hands and makes some very difficult contested catches deep down the field. He is very good at high pointing the ball and hangs onto the ball through contact. After the catch, he has very good burst and speed allowing him to turn any catch into a big play. He also shows good agility and strength to dodge defenders and break tackles. He a true Z receiver who can be used all over the field.

Run Game

In the run game, Burks was occasionally used on jet sweeps to get the ball in his hands and see what he can do. He is a true playmaker and should be used on designed handoffs and screens at the next level. As a blocker, he is very inconsistent. He has the strength and size to be an effective blocker, but he shows very poor effort at times.

Last Word

Burks projects best as a Z receiver in the NFL where he can move all around the field and be used on both the outside and in the slot. He is an incredible playmaker and is a true jump ball receiver with his ability to high point the football. He struggles creating separation and needs to improve his route running before he can be a true number one receiver but until then he can be a big play threat and be a dynamic option for any offense.
