Kingsley Enagbare EDGE South Carolina: Scouting Report
Height: 6’4’’
Weight: 271
Overall
Kingsley Enagbare is an edge rusher in South Carolina’s 4-3 defense. He lined up solely on the edge, primarily in a 2-point stance. In his 4 college seasons, he played in 44 games, starting 21 of them. He is an athletic defender and had a lot of production in getting to the quarterback during his college career.
Pass Game
Enagbare has a very good blend of size, length, strength, and athleticism to get to the quarterback. With these physical tools though, he rarely made plays on tape and shows many inconsistencies. On tape, he shows flashes of being able to bull rush his man or use good hand technique to get around linemen but often he is easily forced out of the play and struggles getting off full contact blocks. Once he gets around his man, he lacks elite bend to flatten out and get to the quarterback making it easier for the quarterback to move throughout the pocket away from his pressure. He does not have much experience in coverage, but he shows very good awareness in diagnosing screen plays. He has the physical tools to grow into an excellent pass rusher in the NFL, but he needs to be more consistent and use better technique to get off blocks.
Run Game
In the run game, Enagbare is a strong tackler and has the speed to chase down the ball-carrier across the field. At the point of attack though, he continues to struggle getting off blocks and he lacks the power to set the edge and fill his gap responsibilities. He rarely made plays against the run on film and unless he fills out his frame more and continues getting stronger, he will likely be a pass-rush specialist throughout his career in the pros.
Last Word
Enagbare projects best as a 3-4 outside linebacker who is used primarily to rush the passer. He lacks the strength to put his hand in the dirt and set the edge against the run, so being able to solely focus on getting the quarterback will benefit him greatly. His flashes in pass rusher show that he has the physical tools to be an impact player at the next level, he just needs further development before he can be a consistent starter. His pass-rushing abilities will allow him to be used on 3rd downs, but his lack of strength may make it difficult for him to find a spot to contribute on special teams.
One-Liner: Kingsley Enagbare has the physical tools to grow into a strong pass-rusher but unless he gains more mass while keeping his athleticism, he will have to be used solely as a rotational pass rusher moving forward.
