Jordan Davis NT Georgia: Scouting Report

Height: 6’6’’

Weight: 341

Overall

Jordan Davis is a dominant nose tackle in Georgia’s 4-3 defense his 4 college seasons, he played in 50 games, starting 36 of them. He has an incredible blend of size and athleticism, and he was a key factor piece in Georgia’s national championship run.

Run Game

Davis is an excellent run stuffing nose tackle. He has the upper body strength, hand technique, and leg drive to push offensive linemen into the backfield and get off blocks to make plays. He is inconsistent with his first step but at times he shows very good explosiveness, a powerful initial punch and is very hard to stop. Even with his size, he has the athleticism to move laterally down the line and chase down the ball-carrier. He is a sure tackler when he gets his hands on the running back. Even when he does not make the play, he takes up a lot of space along the line of scrimmage and controls the A gaps preventing inside runs. He was constantly double teamed on film which made it difficult for him but when he was matched up one on one he was very hard to stop and was elite in getting to the ball carrier.

Pass Game

In the pass game, Davis is not a productive pass rusher, but he does have the athleticism and strength to still be used on obvious pass situations. With his power, he is able to push back his man and collapse the pocket allowing edge rushers a better lane to the quarterback. Along with his bull rushing ability, he shows the hand technique to create separation and get around his man and he has the athleticism to chase down the quarterback.

Last Word

Davis projects best as a 0 technique in a 3-4 scheme, where he can line up head on with the center and control the interior. He has the versatility to be used as a 1 technique in a 4-3 scheme though too. Even though he excels in stopping the run, he is talented enough as a pass rusher to be used on all 3 downs. He can also collapse the interior on special teams plays.

One-Liner: Jordan Davis is a dominant nose tackle and with his size, power, and athleticism, he will make an immediate impact in the NFL.
