Breece Hall RB Iowa State: Scouting Report

Height: 6’1’’

Weight: 220

Overall

Breece Hall is a quick and powerful running back in Iowa State’s pro style offense. During his 3 college seasons, he played in 36 games, starting 30 of them. He is a very dynamic athlete and made some big plays on film with his blend of shiftiness, speed, and power.

Run Game

Hall is a quick, one cut running back who has good vision and patience in the backfield. Once he identifies the open running lane he has good burst through the line of scrimmage, and he has the speed to create home run hitting plays. He is a shifty back who can dodge defenders using jukes and spins to gain extra yards. While he is an athletic back, he thrives on his power and contact balance to get to the second level of the defense. He has the lower body strength to bounce of tacklers and he consistently drives his legs at the end of plays to push the pile.

Pass Game

In the pass game, Hall has sufficient hands, but he has good run after the catch ability and shows good burst and vision once the ball is in his hands. While he will not be a dominant receiving back in the NFL, he can be a good dump off option in any offense. As a pass blocker, he showed very good effort and was able to block blitzing defenders both standing up and as a cut blocker.

Last Word

Hall Projects best in a run heavy offense where he can be the lead back on 1st and 2nd downs and as a rotational player on 3rd downs. While he does have sufficient receiving ability, he does not have the explosiveness as other receiving backs at the next level and would be best suited as an early down runner. With his size and toughness, he can be used on special teams as well.

One-Liner: Breece Hall is a strong one cut runner who can break off big runs but with his limited receiving ability, he fits best an early down back in the NFL.
