Arnold Ebiketie EDGE Penn St.: Scouting Report

Height: 6’2’’

Weight: 250

Overall

Arnold Ebiketie is a dynamic edge rusher in Penn State’s 4-3 defense. He transferred from Temple after his redshirt junior season and was an immediate impact player this past season. He is an excellent athlete and has the abilities to be a very strong starter in the NFL

Pass Game

Ebiketie lined up on the edge in both a 3-point stance and standing up. He rarely looked at the ball before the snap giving him a slow reaction time, but he has a very quick step and can get to the edge or jump to the inside. He has a strong initial punch and showed good hand technique to create separation and get to the quarterback. He can beat his man off the edge with his speed as well as collapse the pocket with his strength. His athleticism and versatility allow him to be used on the edge and even as a 3 technique if needed. He thrives in his ability to get to the quarterback and will be an immediate impact pass rusher at the next level.

Run Game

In the run game, Ebiketie has the strength and length to set the edge. He can swim inside to beat his man and make plays in the backfield. He has some balance issues when being blocked laterally which results in him being removed from the play at times. When he moves vertically, he does a great job to contact his man and extend his arms to create separation and fill the open gap. While he has some issues against the run, he has the strength and experience to be a 3-down player in the NFL.

Last Word

Ebiketie has the versatility to play as an edge rusher in a 4-3 defense or as an outside linebacker in a 3-4. He did not show a lot of experience in coverage though, so he projects best as a 4-3 edge rusher. He has the technique, athleticism, and strength to get to the quarterback with both speed and power. He will excel on 3rd downs and can be an impact player in special teams.

One-Liner: Arnold Ebiketie has the technique and versatility to grow into a dominant pass rusher and he can make an immediate impact in the pros.
