Jalin Hyatt WR Tennessee: Scouting Report

Height: 6’0

Weight: 185

Overall

Jalin Hyatt is an electrifying receiver in Tennessee’s pass heavy offense. In his 4 collegiate seasons, he played in 47 games, starting 26 of them. He has remarkable speed and is a dominant play-maker with the ball in his hands.

Pass Game

Hyatt has excellent acceleration off the line of scrimmage and runs very crisp routes. His quickness and footwork allow him to make quick cuts in his routes without losing any of his momentum. He has the speed to take the top off a defense and he has a 2nd gear that not a lot of receivers can get to. He creates a lot of separation down the field and he has very good hands. He made some very difficult catches on film and when the ball is in his hands he has the balance to quickly change direction to juke out defenders and get up to top speed in a hurry. He has a very thin frame which will make it difficult for him to break tackles but if he adds some mass without losing his burst, he can be more physical at the catch point and with the ball in his hands. He is a dominant playmaker and with his experience, he can make an immediate impact at the next level.

Run Game

Hyatt occasionally lined up in the backfield, mostly to create confusion and mismatches with linebackers rather than getting designed handoffs. He was often used on screens and had a lot of success with his quickness and speed to get to the 2nd level. His lack of size will make it difficult for him to be useful in run blocking though.

Last Word

Hyatt played primarily in the slot while in college and he projects best as a slot player in the pros. He has the versatility to be used often in motion and to even line up in the backfield at times. If he goes to an offense that will find ways to get the ball in his hands on short routes while also using him as a field-stretching deep threat he can be a dynamic weapon while also creating opportunities for the players around him.

One-Liner: Jalin Hyatt has excellent speed and acceleration to create big plays all over the field and he has the versatility to completely open up an offense.
