Brock Bowers TE Georgia: Scouting Report

Height: 6’4

Weight: 240

Overall

Brock Bowers is a physical “H” tight end in Georgia’s balanced offense. In his 3 seasons with the Bulldogs he played in 40 games, starting 37 of them. He suffered an ankle sprain against Vanderbilt this past season causing him to miss multiple games but it should not be an issue moving forward. He also received surgery for a torn labrum prior to the 2022 season. He is a do it all tight end who has the talent to be an immediate impact player in the NFL.

Pass Game

In the pass game, Bowers excels both as a receiver and pass protector. As a receiver he lined up all over the field. On the line of scrimmage, in the slot, on the outside, and even in the backfield. He has an elite blend of size and speed but did not run a complex route tree on film. He was used primarily on short passes to get the ball in his hands and let him make a play after the catch. Down the field he showed some struggles creating separation with his route running especially against man coverage. When he is heavily covered though, he has strong hands and can make tough contested catches in tight coverage. Once the ball is in his hands, he is physical and has the power to break tackles and he does an excellent job of driving his feet after initial contact to gain valuable yards at the end of plays. When he gets in space he also has the speed to outrun defenders and get up the field in a hurry. He shows the elusiveness to make defenders miss but he made a majority of his plays by lowering his shoulder and overpowering defenders. As a pass blocker, he has a strong initial punch and a very good anchor to wall off defenders and drive them down the line. He has the size to dominate against linebackers on the edge and even held his own against defensive linemen on film.

Run Game

In the run game, Bowers was used both as a lead blocker and as the designated runner. He was used on sweeps and in the backfield on zone runs. He has the elite blend of size, power, and speed to continue being used as a runner in the NFL and he can be a valuable weapon on short yardage plays. As a blocker, Bowers continues to show his physicality as he consistently opened up running lanes on film. He again uses his strong initial punch and does a good job of extending his arms after contact and driving his feet to move his man off the line of scrimmage. His blocking played a pivotal role in Georgia’s elite run game, especially this last season.

Last Word

Brock Bowers can truly do it all at the tight end position. While he can make an impact in any offense, he projects best on run-heavy teams where he can open up lanes on the edge and be used as a downfield receiver on play-action passes. His ability to block and make tough contested catches will make him a reliable 3rd down receiver and his physicality will be extremely beneficial on all Special Teams units.

One-Liner: Brock Bowers has elite talent both as a blocker and receiver and if he can stay healthy, he will be a cornerstone player for whichever offense he ends up in.
